RESUMO

The natural pesticide phenazine-1-carboxylic acid (PCA) is known to lack phloem mobility, whereas Metalaxyl is a representative phloem systemic fungicide. In order to endow PCA with phloem mobility and also enhance its antifungal activity, thirty-two phenazine-1-carboxylic acid-N-phenylalanine esters conjugates were designed and synthesized by conjugating PCA with the active structure N-acylalanine methyl ester of Metalaxyl. All target compounds were characterized by 1H NMR, 13C NMR and HRMS. The antifungal evaluation results revealed that several target compounds exhibited moderate to potent antifungal activities against Sclerotinia sclerotiorum, Bipolaris sorokiniana, Phytophthora parasitica, Phytophthora citrophthora. In particular, compound F7 displayed excellent antifungal activity against S. sclerotiorum with an EC50 value of 6.57 µg/mL, which was superior to that of Metalaxyl. Phloem mobility study in castor bean system indicated good phloem mobility for the target compounds F1-F16. Particularly, compound F2 exhibited excellent phloem mobility; the content of compound F2 in the phloem sap of castor bean was 19.12 µmol/L, which was six times higher than Metalaxyl (3.56 µmol/L). The phloem mobility tests under different pH culture solutions verified the phloem translocation of compounds related to the "ion trap" effect. The distribution of the compound F2 in tobacco plants further suggested its ambimobility in the phloem, exhibiting directional accumulation towards the apical growth point and the root. These results provide valuable insights for developing phloem mobility fungicides mediated by exogenous compounds.

RESUMO

Sulfur dioxide, which comes from the flue gas emitted by the steel and coal power industries, is extremely harmful to humans and the natural environment. Due to its high efficiency and economy, dry fixed-bed desulfurization technology and Ca-based adsorbents have attracted wide attention. In this paper, a detailed outline of the process of the fixed-bed reactor, performance indexes, economic value, recent research, and industrial applications of the dry fixed-bed desulfurization process was summarized. The classification and properties, preparation method, desulfurization mechanism, and influencing factors of Ca-based adsorbents were discussed. This review indicated the challenges in the commercialization of dry Ca-based fixed-bed desulfurization and demonstrated the possible solutions. It is beneficial to promote industrial application by improving the utilization efficiency of Ca-based adsorbent, reducing the amount of adsorbent and operation cost, and developing ideal regeneration methods.

RESUMO

A catalyst (V-Cu-Ce-ZSM-5) was explored to simultaneously remove the SO2 and NOx from flue gas by use of the ZSM-5 molecular sieve as the carrier, V and Cu as the active components, and Ce as the additive in low temperature of 150 °C. The performance of V-Cu-Ce-ZSM-5 was evaluated for the oxidation of NO and SO2 before and after the addition of graphene oxide (GO). The results showed that V-Cu-Ce-ZSM-5@GO0.5 had the best performance at a reaction temperature of 150 °C, and the oxidation efficiency of SO2 and NO was 94.60% and 83.64%, respectively. The multiple structural characterizations (BET, SEM, Raman, XRD, and XPS) revealed that the loading of V and Cu with the additive Ce expanded the specific surface area and pore volume of ZSM-5, provided more adsorption sites for SO2 and NO, and had good desulfurization and denitration activity. The addition of GO further improved the dispersibility of active components and auxiliaries, increased the number of active sites in the reaction process, and significantly improved catalytic activity.

RESUMO

Tomato yellow leaf curl virus (TYLCV), a begomovirus (genus Begomovirus) is the causal agent of tomato yellow leaf curl disease (TYLCD), which causes severe damage to tomato (Solanum lycopersicum) crops throughout tropical and subtropical regions of the world. TYLCV is transmitted by the whitefly Bemisia tabaci (Gennadius) (Hemiptera: Aleyrodidae) in a circulative and persistent manner. Our previous studies showed that tomato flavonoids deter B. tabaci oviposition, but the effects of tomato flavonoids on the settling and feeding behavior of B. tabaci and on its transmission of TYLCV are unknown. Using two near-isogenic tomato lines that differ greatly in flavonoid levels, we found that high flavonoid production in tomato deterred the landing and settling of B. tabaci. Moreover, electrical penetration graph studies indicated that high flavonoid levels in tomato reduced B. tabaci probing and phloem-feeding efficiency. As a consequence, high flavonoid levels in tomato reduced the primary and secondary spread of TYLCV. The results indicate that tomato flavonoids provide antixenosis resistance against B. tabaci and that the breeding of such resistance in new varieties could enhance TYLCD management.
